During the months that follow the closing of play at Clubs belonging to Bowls Manitoba, usually by mid-October or early November, many members choose to continue their bowling indoors.   While there are some that prefer alley bowling or curling, others continue using their outdoor bowls in one of three venues currently offered in Winnipeg.  Depending on the space available, this is sometimes referred to as "Short Mat".
PAN-AM POOL is obviously not a wet venue, since we get enough of that during the summer, but a carpeted surface is provided in the old AQUATIC HALL OF FAME room at the Pan Am Sports Complex, near Grant and Waverley.   Sets of bowls are provided, although some prefer to bring their own.  For the start of season date and this year's times of play, visit PAN AM DETAILS
GATEWAY CENTRE was refurbished last fall and was ready for play in time for the October 2008 start.  Full-length bowling on carpet is provided without leagues, on a random draw basis and pairs or triples are the more common games.  For the start of season date and this year's times of play, visit GATEWAY BOWLS
TUXEDO CLUB also has a once-a-week Short Mat bowls session, usually at 1:00 pm on Thursdays within their clubhouse.   Again, the start date will be published along with current year details and contacts at TUXEDO SHORT MAT BOWLS
